I was tasked with creating an enterprise taxonomy for the organization. The genesis for the project was a card sort of topics on a project and the recognition that so many different terms were used across the organization to refer to the same things.
My research included creating concept models, conducting card sorts, working with SMEs, and reviewing search term analytics. I was also involved in designing the Drupal module to be used for that taxonomy and content management.
I began this project with a concept model of healthcare IT topics to get a sense of how they relate to each other.
I created a wireframe and a working prototype in Axure for the backend Drupal module. Clicking left to right expands the topics and subtopics. Synonyms are shown for the benefit of the editors. Content types and audience are included as another layer to the topics. View the prototype
